GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTIONS


CERTIFIED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN
All certified veterinary technicians are responsible for, but not limited to, supervising all the activities of the health and care of the boarding, surgical, dental, treatment of hospitalized patients and supervising the duties of all veterinary assistants of  the hospital on a day to day basis.  Certified veterinary technicians are the primary liason between the attending veterinarians, veterinarian assistant and client relations in all medical care.  

VETERINARY ASSISTANT
Veterinary assistants’ duties are to assist the veterinarians and certified veterinary technicians in the daily activities of the health and care of all animals either in boarding, treatment or surgery.  These duties may consist of, but not limited to, restraining animals for treatment, administering medications, preparing medications, computer skills for prescriptions and record keeping, assisting in surgery, radiology and dental procedures, assisting in exam rooms with patients, various laboratory procedures, cleaning of all exam, surgery and treatment areas or any duties deemed necessary by the staff supervisor or attending veterinarian on duty.

RECEPTIONIST

The duties of the receptionists are many and certainly one of the most important leadership and team member roles in the hospital.  The way in which people and their animals are greeted on entry sets a standard of treatment and care of their animals at other times in our hospital.  The following is a list of general duties: greeting clients in a friendly and professional manner; answering the telephones, taking messages and making appointments; pulling client files and entering them to exam rooms or entering their animals into the hospital for boarding, grooming, treatment or surgery; cleaning of reception area and waiting room or notify kennel staff or veterinary assistants to help out when assistance is needed; refiling of client files; collecting payments from clients and issuing an itemized statement.

KENNEL STAFF

It is the daily responsibility of all kennel staff members to monitor the health status of all dogs and cats and inform the supervisor of any abnormal conditions at anytime.  Specific responsibilities are to: supply water and meals to boarding animals; walk dogs in outdoor exercise area; clean, disinfect and repaper cages; wash down and disinfect runs, gutters and outside exercise area.
